Chief Gee would spend nearly 37 years at BART PD.  In December 2000, he became BART’s fourth police chief and the first to have risen through the department’s ranks.  In his nine years as chief, his many achievements included ensuring that BART PD would be more diverse than it had ever been.  Gee was a charter member of NCAPOA and would become the association’s longest-serving active member.
At Chief Gee’s retirement banquet, several speakers, including Oakland PD Capt. Edward Tracey, a former BART PD cadet and officer, praised Gee for being a mentor and role model and someone who was always willing to share his knowledge and advice to young officers and anyone interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement.
